The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) drama dinner took place at the Royal Hotel, Cookstown on Friday 4th May. This annual dinner celebrated the success of the association’s 2018 drama season.
Over 300 young farmers recently attended the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster Association’s AGM and Conference, sponsored by Massey Ferguson, one of the world’s leading tractor brands. The event was held at The Armagh City Hotel
Saturday 7th April brought the return of the hugely popular Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster Arts Festival Gala. The event was held at the Millennium Forum, Londonderry. The clubs that took to the stage were Finvoy YFC, Kilraughts YFC, Kilrea YFC, Randalstown YFC and Spa YFC. Each club performed a short drama piece which the members wrote and produced themselves. The outstanding performance of the night award went to Finvoy Young Farmers Club.
The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster with the support of Danske Bank, recently held its first Land Mobility Roadshow event. Over 65 people attended the event which provided farmers and farming families with important information on land mobility, succession planning, taxation and farm business strategies.
A group of 39 members from the YFCU recently travelled to Beauvais in France as part of their annual agri study trip which was kindly sponsored by leading farm machinery brand, Massey Ferguson.
The YFCU NI Quiz which is sponsored by Ulster Bank was held at Magherafelt High School on Friday 2nd February.
The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster annual ten pin bowling competition sponsored by Northern Counties Co-Operative Enterprises Ltd (N.C.C.E) recently took place at Lisburn Bowl and Brunswick Movie Bowl. Between the two venues, over thirty teams competed in this popular event making it a great night for all involved. This year’s winning team was Spa YFC. The team was made up of Hannah Shaw, Matthew Patterson, Nicola Edgar, James Ferguson, Matthew Cleland who picked up the trophy from YFCU Vice President Peter Alexander.
The YFCU Choir Festival 2017 took place at CAFRE's Loughry Campus. 12 choirs took part in the festival and the audience had the opportunity to enjoy some fine festive singing with a wide range of song choices. Adjudicators on the night were Denis Totten and Diana Culbertson and compere was YFCU Deputy President, Zita Blair who introduced the choirs.
The YFCU Soil Assessment Competition sponsored by Tesco was held at the NI Ploughing Championships at Donaghcloney.
The YFCU Fencing Competition sponsored by Ward & Boyd was held at the NI Ploughing Championships in Donaghcloney.
The YFCU Junior Weekend was held at the weekend at Carlingford Adventure Centre where over 50 junior members came together for some team building and to learn more about the organisation.
The YFCU Tag Rugby Finals sponsored by Danske Bank were held at Ballymoney Rugby Club
