Pics from Arts Festival Gala Evening

The YFCU held its prestigious Arts Festival Gala evening in Belfast Waterfront on Saturday 21st March 2009.  .

Sponsored by NFU Mutual Insurance Society, the event is the finale of the YFCU annual Arts Festival and on the night the members of the five participating clubs who made it through the from the Festival had the opportunity to shine as they took to the stage of the Waterfront.

The five clubs who entertained the audience were Coleraine, Glarryford, Kilraughts, Finvoy and Moneymore Young Farmers’ Clubs.  UTV’s Paul Clark acted as compere on the night and added a touch of humour between acts.

Permanent Secretary of Department of Education, Will Haire, was the special guest and after the clubs had taken to the stage he addressed the sold out crowd and commented that he had thoroughly enjoyed all of the performances and that the Arts Festival was an excellent platform to showcase the talent that exists within the YFCU.

Will Haire then presented members of each of the five clubs who performed at the Gala with certificates and plaques for Outstanding Merit.

Special Awards were then distributed to clubs who performed in the Arts Festival for their contribution to the overall effect of the performances.  These were:

Most Amusing Moment: Kilrea & Curragh

Most Imaginative Theme: Co Down

Best Choral Piece: Lylehill

Best Choreography: Finvoy

Best Newcomer: Moycraig

The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster would like to extend a note of thanks to NFU Mutual Insurance Society for their longstanding commitment and sponsorship of the event.  Also, a note of appreciation must be given to special guest Will Haire for taking the time out of his busy schedule to attend the event and to all of those who came along on the evening to show their support of this special event.
