Co Down club BMWR YFC members proved their strength to win this year’s tug of war competition, in association with John Thompson & Sons Ltd at the Balmoral Show.
The build up to the tug of war began at the YFCU stand on Thursday afternoon when the draw took place to decide which teams pulled against one another in round one. Seven teams entered the competition this year.
With a great crowd of spectators urging the teams on, BMWR YFC and Hillhall YFC pulled through to face each other in the final. Holestone YFC and Spa YFC took part in a third place pull with Spa YFC taking the third spot.
BMWR YFC had the strength to win the final pull and they picked up the coveted John Thompson & Sons Ltd Perpetual Shield and medals kindly provided by John Thompson & Sons. Hillhall YFC were awarded second place and also received medals.
The YFCU would like to thank everyone who helped with the tug of war, including Barrie Barr for all his help and advice and all those who helped to steward the event.
Special thanks must also be paid to John Thompson & Sons Ltd for their support of this highly popular contest.
